Rotator cuff injuries are among the top sports injuries requiring over 400,000 surgeries costing the health care system over $523M annually. Depending on the severity of the tear and the age of the patient, re-tear rates range from 26-94%, making recovery and return to function challenging for many. Physical therapy can alleviate pain but not repair the damaged tendon. Patients over 60 represent the largest demographic where the risk of losing their quality of life and independence is high and costly.
THE SOLUTION
Catalyzing the regeneration of soft tissue to bone with PRO Therapeutics’ rotator cuff graft
- Encourages the body’s own biological healing process and restores normal biomechanics when used to repair a tendon tear.
- It provides an underlayment that allows migration of cells from bone to enhance the regenerative capacity of the tendon to the bone.
- Will be provided as an off-the-shelf product
- Expected minimal impact to current surgical procedures with significant reduction in or elimination of post-surgical re-tears that occur due to poor adhesion of tendon to bone
